Dr. Zimmerman, a nuclear physicist, has worked at US Army Ballistics Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, at the MIT synchrotron laboratory, at the Brookhaven National Laboratory research reactor, at the Canadian research reactor at Chalk River and at the Brazilian research reactor at the Instituto de Energia Atomica.  He has had a long career as a physics teacher, first  as an MIT teaching assistant, then at the Case Institute of  Technology, at the Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica, at the Escola de Engenharia de Sao Carlos, at the Departamento de Fisica, Matematica e Geologia in the Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciencia e Letras, Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brazil, and recently at the Alabama A&M University, USA.  He has supervised student research using nuclear techniques in the medical, biological and material sciences.
