Ellen Davis Yorke is currently an Attending Physicist and Member in the Department of Medical Physics at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Barnard College in 1962, a Master’s degree in Physics from Columbia University in 1963 and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland in 1967. She taught physics as an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore County until 1985 and then received ‘old-fashioned’ clinical training in therapeutic Medical Physics from Dr. Clifton Ling at George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C.  where she then became a Professor of Radiology . In 1997, she went to the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Physics in the Radiation Oncology Department, moving to MSKCC in 1998. She is the author of over 100 peer reviewed papers and 8 book chapters. She is active in AAPM, currently as Chair of  the Therapy Physics Committee and  Vice Chair of the Science Council and of Task Group 100. She is a Fellow of AAPM.
